Washer and Dryers

Washers and dryers can go in a variety of places throughout the home and each one presents their own challenges when ensuring the safety of you and your family.

All outlets in the laundry room are required to be ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets to protect against electrocution. The washer and dryers will also each require dedicated electrical circuits to provide the required amount of power. Usually there are electrical or gas hookups. Electric is the most popular.

If there is no outdoor window, an exhaust fan is required to provide a minimum of five air exchanges per hour and will need to be connected to the electric circuit.
